Songs and Music of Travelling People.
This show often comprises part of a traveller awareness or cultural diversity event or stands alone as an exciting introduction to the music of travelling people.
Sessions start with a mini concert accompanied by computer visuals. This mini concert includes songs about travellers from all over the world accompanied by guitar, concertina, old fashioned one row melodeon and modern three row melodeon. All instruments are demonstrated with an explanation. Children are then given a mini melodeon and taught to play a scale and a simple tune. This workshop is most effective enjoyed in groups of six with a maximum of thirty students.
“Ray Langton has run a music session as part of our Traveller Culture Diversity Day for the last six years. By the end of the session our pupils were able to play a simple tune on their melodeon and had a greater appreciation of the music of traveling people. Our diversity days wouldn’t be the same without him!”
